“What happens to all the grannies who have some kind of CBD with delta-8 in the back of their medicine cabinet?” Omaha Sen. Wendy DeBoer asked during a recent debate on a Nebraska bill that would ban hemp-derived THC products in the state. DeBoer added that the bill would “make felons of all the grannies” using hemp-based products for aching joints.
As Nebraska is still working on implementing the voter-approved legalization of medical cannabis, the state's legislature is also weighing a bill that would ban almost all hemp-derived intoxicants. The state has over 300 hemp shops that could be at risk, according to the owner of one who spoke to ABC News.

Pennsylvania House approves legalization bill
Pennsylvania’s House approved a bill that would legalize cannabis for adults over the age of 21 and sell it through state-run stores. The bill was introduced on Monday. The bill will now go to the Republican-majority Senate, where it is expected to face steep opposition. Read our newsletter yesterday for more on the bill.
Delaware can finally check fingerprints 🕵️
Months after Delaware was supposed to have issued licenses for its legal cannabis market, the state can finally move forward. After quickly amending the state regulations to be more specific, the FBI has granted the state with an access code to its fingerprinting database. This will allow the Office of the Mariuana Commissioner to complete background checks on the first batch of license applicants.
Oregon not sure if its $46 million anti-cannabis fund works 🤷
Oregon's Illegal Marijuana Market Enforcement Grant has spent $46 million combatting illicit cannabis in the state. Regulators say that as long as they are unable to assess the actual size of the illicit market, they also cannot say if the enforcement grant has any impact.
Nevada bill would allow foster parents with cannabis convictions 👶
The Nevada legislature is currently considering Assembly Bill 107, which would remove past cannabis convictions as an automatic disqualifier for the state's foster parent system. Despite legalizing cannabis in 2017, the state system has had to turn away about 10 families a year for prior cannabis convictions, according to a Clark County lobbyist that spoke to Nevada Current.
