Quick hits

It’s safe to say that states are now digesting what the impact of rescheduling of medical cannabis means for their own state cannabis operations. Here’s a Quick Hits rundown of the latest.

Nevada: Board of Pharmacy set to follow federal rescheduling automatically
Nevada's State Board of Pharmacy follows federal scheduling guidelines, and with medical cannabis now rescheduled to Schedule III, a state law kicks in: if the federal government officially reschedules a controlled substance, the board must adopt the change within 60 days of a final published order, unless an objection is filed. Watch the full story from Fox 5 in Las Vegas.

South Carolina: State may get accidental medical cannabis access
Like in Nevada ☝️, rescheduling has triggered the Controlled Substances Therapeutic Research Act of 1980 in South Carolina, which requires the state to mirror federal scheduling changes within 30 days. More.

Wisconsin: Federal rescheduling builds momentum, but nothing really changes Wisconsin cannabis advocates say the federal rescheduling order is a step in the right direction, but it doesn't change Wisconsin law. However, Rob Pero of the Wisconsin-based Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association believes rescheduling "relieves a lot of pressure" on conservative state legislators and could build momentum for legalization. Full story here.

Louisiana: Moving in the wrong direction
Bucking the trend in the worst possible way, the Louisiana House passed a bill that would make it a felony to smoke or vape cannabis within 2,000 feet (⅓ mile) of any school or college campus. The bill now heads to the Senate. More from Marijuana Moment.

⚖️ People moves

If you don’t know Rossi, have a watch of one of the most open and honest conversations about the New York cannabis market from Cultivated Live May 2024.

🛒 One fun thing

The Cultivated team is headed to New Jersey next week, so we had to check out this state-run dispensary finder. A public tool that lets consumers find licensed dispensaries across the state. How fun is that?
