Happy Friday!

Sorry to bring you bad news โ€” but the President did NOT reschedule cannabis yesterday with the stroke of a pen.

But if you join us on LinkedIn and YouTube this morning at 10 AM Eastern for This Week in Cannabis News powered by Dutchie, weโ€™ll bring you the latest.

Letโ€™s get to it before you head out for a long weekend.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Quotable

"Rescheduling cannabis is not the end game, but it is the critical next step. The move would do more than signal a new direction โ€” it would unlock immediate, measurable relief for patients, entrepreneurs and state programs." said Roger Stone, long-time Republican political operative and advisor to Donald Trump

Stone recently penned an op-ed for Marijuana Moment (see: What Weโ€™re Reading ๐Ÿ‘‡) laying out the case for rescheduling.

Roger Stone infamously has a tattoo on his back of Richard Nixon โ€“ the president who signed the Controlled Substances Act, which made cannabis a Schedule 1 drug in the first place.

๐Ÿ“น In case you missed it

Jay sat down with Krista Raymer, Chief Strategy Officer at C3 Industries yesterday morning, to talk about Q4 and what dispensary owners and operators need to do to prepare for it.

There is not a definitive timeline for the rollout, as dispensaries will have to first get approval from the DCC to sell pre-rolls.

Jushi sues PA hemp producers ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ

The Florida-based MSO sued 10 different hemp companies in Pennsylvania state court, claiming that they undercut Jushi's profitability by providing "gas station weed" that is compliant with the 2018 Farm Bill, meaning they can be sold in shops that are not licensed medical retailers. The Philadelphia Inquirer, whose reporting Jushie cites in their complaint, has more

CT hemp farmers sue the state ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ

Hemp farmers in Connecticut sued the state in federal court on Aug. 26, claiming the recently-enacting restrictions on the sale of intoxicating hemp have damaged the industry, where active licenses have plummeted from 119 to 25 over the last two years. The farmers seek a court order requiring the state to allow them to sell their products once again.

Another Circuit Court says pot users can own guns ๐Ÿ”ซ

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of a man who was charged in Oklahoma with illegally possessing a gun while consuming cannabis. The ruling comes just days after a similar case in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals found that medical cannabis users are entitled to gun rights under the Second Amendment.
