Michigan proposes stiffer penalties for illicit grows 🚔

Lawmakers in Michigan are proposing a new law that would levy stiffer penalties on illegal growers. Cracking down on scofflaw grows has been a challenge for authorities because the law that legalized cannabis in the state reduced possession of any amount of cannabis to a misdemeanor. 

DOJ asks for Supreme Court delay on drugs and gun rights case 🔫

Trump's Department of Justice requested that the U.S. Supreme Court push back the government's deadline for submitting briefs from Dec. 4 to Jan. 20 in a case that could determine whether or not cannabis users in states that allow it, also have the right to possess firearms. Study finds flavored vapes are increasingly popular among adolescents 💨

A larger percentage of adolescents that consume cannabis are using flavored vapes over other formats, according to a University of Michigansurvey of students in eighth, 10th and 12th grade from 2021-2024. Among all adolescents, those who vaped flavored cannabis products rose to 4%, 6% and 9%, respectively, among the three age groups. Among those who regularly consume cannabis, a majority in each group now favors flavored vapes.
